I've led teams that have delivered on the promise of AI in healthcare — on time, under budget, and deeply integrated into some of the world's largest healthcare organizations. Imagine what we can build together.
AI holds immense potential to transform healthcare delivery, but potential alone doesn't get systems into use. I've seen promising initiatives stall — not because the ideas were wrong, but because models were inaccurate, deployments were costly, or adoption never took hold. I'm Raphael Cohen, and through my work I've developed and refined processes designed to navigate these pitfalls and get to durable deployment faster.
As VP of AI & Engineering at HDAI, I lead the HealthVision platform, which is used daily by clinicians at institutions such as Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Houston Methodist Hospital. One of our flagship capabilities — targeted clinical AI summaries — became successful not because the models were impressive in isolation, but because we built for reliability and adoption from day one. We made deliberate architectural decisions: investing early in a clean, unified medical data layer and a cloud environment capable of running hundreds of predictive models consistently at scale. That foundation is what allows our AI summaries to be clinically validated for accuracy, cost-efficient to operate, and fast enough to fit seamlessly into real, high-stakes clinical workflows where they inform real-world decisions.
My background combines deep machine learning and cloud systems expertise with firsthand experience working inside clinical departments at Mass General Brigham, including Anesthesia and Radiology. I led the creation of two AI development platforms, published in the IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics and The Journal of Imaging and Informatics in Medicine. You can find resulting research — from automated therapeutic drug control to hemodynamic impacts of COVID-19 — on my Google Scholar profile.
Through Cohen Solutions LLC, I partner with organizations that want to accelerate their AI initiatives. Whether you're deciding where to start, validating if AI is the right tool, or facing a stubborn challenge that just won't move — I can help. I understand the realities of clinical workflows, data integration, and the decision-making dynamics of healthcare executives and frontline clinicians.
